Sweet Grandchildren

Visited Heather's family today. Monet and I went for groceries, and she was a great help. Teelin slept a lot, and I held him while Heather got chores done. It is always fun to visit them.

Cannot believe that he is three weeks old, and that Monet is two and a half, and Louisa is 19 months, Ethan is two and a half, and Elsy is almost four months. It is also hard to believe that they are all here!!!

Grandchildren! Seem to Be a Favorite Topic

The Deerfield Fair is a tradition in this family-and every year at least a couple of members make it. Kate , Louisa and I had a great day together. We planned a day together for her birthday. It was great. I did not make the Fair the year Kate was born, and this year little Teelin's birth caused his family to miss it. Next year Teelin plans on making his first visit to the fair, and I am sure his family will be with him!
Ride that Pony Louisa!

Evan and I had a wonderful couple of days at the Mount Washington Resort in the White Mountains. This was our yearly foliage trip, and we were cautiously optimistic as we headed up 93 with a weather prediction of rain, rain and more rain. Luckily Saturday was a cloudy but there was not a raindrop in sight! The trees were warm with blazing colors of infinite shades of red, yellow, orange, purple and tan-all set against the glorious rich dark velvety greens of pointy pines. We drove around the golf course looking for the driving range (we finally found it!) exclaiming about the mountains, and mist and clouds nestled in the ravines- just magical.
We dined royally, swam and hot tubbed, read and watched political shows. Great fun, and a wonderful rest.

Random Pictures

Visiting the granchildren always produces pictures, and of course there is always some wildlife walking across the fields!

Sailing on Silvery Silver Seas

The sea is an ever changing entity depending on weather conditions. Setting the scientific explanations aside for the moment, one can call these changes magic.  Light and shadow and water and waves weave a fantasy world of sparkles and glistenings and shimmerings and shines straight through to the horizon. If one is fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time for this magic, one finds oneself sailing on silvery, silver seas. How wonderful!

These shots were taken from Vinalhaven in the afternoon of September 19th after Ev and I closed up the boathouse. This vision appeared after a couple of hours of work. We thought it was a gift!

September has wonderful weather. Warm sunshine pouring from blue skies dotted with big white , fluffy clouds lights up the sunflowers and stone crop and Kate's chickens' feathers! Swamp maples are lit up with bright red leaves  giving a hint of what is to come in the next month of changing foliage. The old, hollow apple trees in the yard are heavily laden with fat, big  red and green apples. These dear old trees keep producing fruit year after year . That is a miracle because the trunks are mere shells. Cabby and CeCe and Jingles , and the chickens, love these apples just as much as Louisa loves feeding them to the critters. I hear that the blonde angel who lives in Cornish loves throwing apples to the pigs at the farm her family visits, and bonked one right between the eyes a few days ago! This pretty month leads us to October-a great month -but more on the that  in a later blog. Here are some pics relevant to September, delightful September-colors, flowers, the pond, last skis, new babies and dear little girls.

Sunflowers-the results of magic between the sun, the earth, and the rain drops-all from   little seeds I pushed into the soil in May!!

A migrating, visiting loon-he (or she!) had a friend with him.

Sweet little Teelin-truly a gift!

September has been awesome so far, and I left out all the September family birthday folks. The good thing is that there are a couple of weeks left.

Halloween is Coming!

After we went to lunch at Wild Willey's for Evan's birthday, we went back to Jill and Kevin's to play Rock Band (great fun). While there Jill decided to take Roxy's Halloween costume out from last year to see if it still fit. Silliness was in the air again!

First it was Alfi's turn. This kitty put up with being a pumpkin, but hated the hat!
Next it was Roxy's turn. She will do ANYTHING for FOOD, even wear a very tight pumpkin costume!
Finally, the costume was put on another unsuspecting and somewhat resistant character-Louisa!!
It was fun, and now I am wondering what everyone will be for Halloween . Some of us were in Ireland last Halloween (a wonderful experience) and did not get dressed up. Monet  did don a fairy crown and wings in a dining room in a beautiful hotel in Ireland last year. This year will hold many surprises I am sure.
